Hong Kong Airport 10 hours temporary entry Covid-19 testing procedures (departure from Taiwan)

Given Hong Kong extended its 14 days compulsory quarantine order for anyone who is from the Mainland, Macao or Taiwan, our flight was requested to take a temporary covid-19 test before entry Hong Kong. Here is the record of all the procedures we took.

First we began with the Taipei international airport (TPE), the airport was depressingly empty as expected.

My flight was China Airline CI 909 flight from Taipei to Hong Kong, the self check-in service was being suspended. 

Instead they applied the online check-in, and there were several airline staffs guided me to scan the QR Code.

When I check in my luggage, the ground staff asked me if I submit the HK online health declaration form, if not, can scan the QR code they provided.

The above QR code will link to the following page, just finish the pages and it will provide another QR code, 

print screen for later scan in Hong Kong Airport.

Before departure, remember to shop some living supply for later 10 hours waiting in HK.

Heading to the gate, most flights were being canceled.

Empty tax-free shopping street.

Reached the gate, we changed our fly gears here.

Even for the kid.

Ready to fly, the most dangerous part of the trip.

The crew was well prepared.

Since here all the procedures were all well set for us, just follow the signs or staffs' instructions to proceed.

In Hong Kong Airport, the testing procedures can roughly be separated into the following parts:

1. Body temperature testing.

2. Check reachable phone number.

3. Put on wristband and download the "StayHomeSafe" app.

4. Scan the health declaration form QR code which we generated before departure.

5. Receive the Compulsory Quarantine Order, and one kraft bag.

6. Take the bus to Asia World Expo next to the Airport to test Cov-19.

Prepare the passport or id and boarding pass well, those would be checked repeatedly.

The staff called my phone number to verify.

Put on the wristband, better avoid too tight, we have to live with it for next 14 days.

Kept queuing.

Here we received a kraft bag no.1, with app guide sheet and some instructions inside.

Then they issued a Compulsory Quarantine Order for us. 

According to this order, we were going to be shifted to Expo for a temporary Covid-19 testing.

After received the order, we proceed to the immigration, and collected our luggage back, and to take the bus.

There was only one way to go, don't worry about getting lost.

Heading to Expo.

The bus drove us to one of a expo building to save our luggage, and then took us to another entrance.

Please being noticed that we basically cannot approach our luggage again until the end the whole testing, so remember to bring the necessity with you to survive in at least 7 hrs waiting time.

Also remember take the sanitizer with you, along with the boarding pass and passport (ID)

The flight landing time was 12:30 pm, and it's 14:10 pm when we arrived the expo entrance.

Here we queued for the specimen carrier bag for covid-19 testing, and there were some big screens showing tutoring videos repeatedly.

The tutoring video showed how to collect our deep throat saliva specimen cleanly, pretty easy actually.

Then we headed to a personal cube for collecting process, remember to unmask and mask back cleanly.

After finished collecting, we had to send the testing sample back to the staff, and then being guided to the waiting area.

The clock was 14:28 pm.

Since here we started our endless waiting period.

The room was really big, and full of testing people who are still waiting for the results, all were well separated into distanced seats.

The gov provided unlimited easy cold sandwiches and bottle water, also we can go to the toilet anytime. 

On the desk gov prepared some sheets and one plastic trash bag for personal use.

During the waiting period, I saw some clever people prepared a small tent for resting, a smart move.

I'll suggest the reader if you really need to get through this procedure, be prepared for at least 7 hours waiting.

The gov gave us the kraft bag no.2, which is for the self-testing after 12 days.

Finally the gov issued another amended quarantine order, it's 01:00 am.

And I called a taxi and drove me home. 

In the house we had to open the app and recorded our home area.

During the home quarantine period, the app will request to scan the wristband QR code.
